Like any veterinary professional, Jamie adores working closely with animals. However, she feels that her true strength lies in making important connections with people—especially pet owners! As one of North End Pet Hospital’s receptionists, she gets to build relationships with pet parents and their beloved furry friends every single day.

Jamie joined the North End Pet Hospital family in 2013. She currently lives in Tacoma with her husband and their black Lab, Charlie, who loves eating things he shouldn’t and nipping the stuffing out of all of his toys. When she isn’t spending time with her family or tending to her duties here at the hospital, Jamie enjoys knitting and crocheting, reading, being outdoors, and traveling.

    Office Manager

Julie’s childhood neighbor was a veterinarian and a very close friend of Julie’s parents. When she was young, she would walk to his office and imagine working in the veterinary profession. As fate would have it, Julie achieved her dream—now she’s the Office Manager of North End Pet Hospital!

Julie was born in Maui, Hawaii, and attended college in Connecticut. After moving to New Hampshire with her husband to start working in the restaurant business, Julie continued on to Washington State to join the staff of her sister-in-law’s own small restaurant. When the decision was made to sell the establishment several years later, Julie looked across the street and saw North End Pet Hospital. Having always had an interest in the veterinary world, she decided to take a chance and apply for a job! She’s been an employee here since 1997.

Julie and her husband have two grown sons and a pair of lovely grandchildren, and keep two pets of their own at home: Pilikia, a rescued cat, and Ellie Mae, a rescued bloodhound. In her time away from the hospital, Julie is an avid sailor—she met her husband when sailing in Hawaii—and also enjoys hiking, swimming, playing tennis, and knitting.

    Veterinary Technician

Growing up on a property with a variety of animals, Kim couldn’t help but fall in love with pets at an early age. She’s always felt drawn to the creatures of nature, and has wanted to know everything there was to know about them for as long as she can remember! Now she gets to serve pets and their owners every day as one of North End Pet Hospital’s Veterinary Technicians.

Kim’s veterinary career began in 1990, when she started as a kennel assistant in a local animal hospital. She then enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at Pierce College, earning her Veterinary Technician’s license in 1993. After graduating, she worked in a mixed-animal practice for 12 years before making a brief move to Anchorage, Alaska. Upon returning to Tacoma, she joined the team here at North End Pet Hospital and has now happily served the pets of the area for nearly 10 years.

At home, Kim lives with her husband, Jake, their son Isaac, and a West Highland white terrier that Kim adopted from a client here at the clinic. When she isn’t spending time with her family or tending to pets’ needs around the hospital, Kim enjoys gardening and boating.
